This weekend I taught a class at a local scrapbooking retreat. I saw a friend that I hadn't seen in about three months...she started as Emily's preschool teach 12 years ago...then became a stamp customer many years ago...and now is a friend that I absolutely adore. I hadn't seen her and it made me realize that there are so many people that I haven't seen in a while because I am not offering stamp classes like I used to. It isn't that I don't want to stamp or that I am not inspired...it is simply that building Sweetbriar Designs is so incredibly time consuming. But, I miss seeing my stamping friends...I miss the creativity and I miss the 'me time'. So, though I may not be able to post frequently, I am going to try to take a little time each week to stamp and will share what I create.
Here are two cards I made last night demonstrating a watercolor technique that seems to be all the rage in the stamping world right now. It uses embossed images on shimmery white cardstock, aquapainters and reinkers to create this soft watercolored effect. I really, really loved this technique. Other than drying time, it was very quick to do.
- Simply emboss your outline image in white.
- Place your cardstock in a plastic container and GENEROUSLY spritz with water.
- Dip your aquapainter in liquid ink (the reinkers) and dab on your cardstock. The color will 'flow' throughout.
- Follow up wit another color or two that is darker.
- Let dry (about 20 minutes) and cut out your image.
- Assemble your card.
Hope you enjoy the samples. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
This rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set uses Pretty in Pink and Pixie Pink inks. Card is Pink Passion cardstock though.
This card uses Barely Banana, Summer Sun and Cameo Coral on Cameo Coral cardstock.
